Yeah, the magic rip out of bed and run out the door in 10 minutes flat depends on a few factors:
- washing up the night before
- inhaling breakfast or taking it with you
- preparing food the night before
- preparing your clothes the night before
- having your audit bag / laptop bag ready to go

Being a guy doesn't hurt either, I must regret to mention. ;)

I also need to get ready quicker in the morning! It takes me 1 hr 15 minutes to get going, and then I feel the need to digest my food before sleeping at night, so that slows me down. I hear in the summer they work 9-4, and are in the firm's main office, so if I live near there, I'll get more down time.
However, if they offer me a job, I'm taking it, no matter how much they'll expect me to work. I'm not so sure of getting any job just now!

Hopefully the company you're working for has some commitment to "flexibility" and "work-life balance". Talk about getting some of the balance in. And if they don't, DON'T RETURN after your internship! You'll find a job at another firm that isn't absolutely batty.

For now, you need to survive.

If you're 1 or 2 hours away from the client site and they expect you to put in 13.5 hour days, that's at least 15 hours of work and commute, leaving you with 9 hours to eat, wash up and sleep.

My next response is, be happy it's only 13.5 hours! Some have it worse, as you may see your senior is suffering. If you can do hygiene and feeding in an hour flat, you have no social life but you can in theory sleep for 8 hours.

This'll be over soon - most busy season die down after a couple of weeks. If it's longer, look into transferring into another engagement!

I really enjoy reading your blog so far! I find it all entertaining and interesting because I am an accounting/finance major at UGA. I don't know which one I will end up with! But I was wondering if you had an advice for getting an internship and such because I would really like to have one this summer as opposed to just working at a random store. I'd prefer to get work experience in a field I am interested in! If you could email me we could talk that way! Thanks!!!
