Progress Report: Week 6
So this progress report is almost a week late… I’ve been having too much fun and not studying enough! I had a dance workshop this weekend, and a family gathering Sunday, and I’ve been trying hard to get enough sleep this week, but not finding much time to study.
Luckily, Week 6 is actually LAST week, where I got quite a lot of hours in some days as I had downtime at work with nothing to do but stockholder’s equity multiple choice problems.
I officially have 4 more weeks before I take the FAR section of the CPA exam! I need to power through these last sections so I can start taking practice tests and reviewing weak areas (such as… accounting for treasury stock, and how to apply cost, equity, and fair value methods…)
I am down to my last 8 hours of Roger CPA Review videos! These 8 hours are over topics I’ve never touched on before though: Governmental Accounting, Consolidated Financial Statements, and Non-Profit accounting. I’m not sure how heavily tested these are in FAR, since my university is certainly aware of the topics on the CPA exam and tries to prepare their accounting students for it. I can’t help but think that if they were super-heavily tested, we would have covered them.
Then again, I will definitely get them in classes in my 5th year… So I’m waiting for Roger’s video to tell me how much I have to worry about these, and I’m also interested to see what it’s like to learn an entirely new topic from him. So far all of the sections I’ve studied are topics that I was taught in school and then subsequently forgot, such as EPS, dilutive securities, equity method of accounting for investments….
