Wanted: CPA Exam Study Buddy

June 8, 2009 in CPA Exam | Comments (5)

Krupo from A Counting School suggested that I get a CPA exam study buddy to get through the exam with. I don’t seem to know anyone who is at the same stage as me just now, but I’m not sure if that’s necessary. We could take different parts and then compare notes so the other one will be more prepared than we were.

How does one go about finding a CPA exam study buddy anyway? Perhaps I could post an advertisement on Craigslist?? :)

To be fair, I don’t know if a CPA study buddy is necessary either. I’m a CA, not a CPA. I have no idea how the CPA exams work, despite having been in contact with a bunch of you.

All I know is there’s sections, madness, and a sweet reciprocity exam for Canadian CAs. :)

I don’t think that a study buddy is necessary, but it’s nice to complain to friends that understand what I am going through (and also being there to listen to their frustrations). It helps keep us all sane!

I could see how having someone read over your practice simulations could be good though. Although I personally feel pretty comfortable with my writing skills so I’m not as worried about that part as actually getting the technical questions right.

    NO NOT CRAIGSLIST! LOL

You might try the forums at CPANet.com, they have a section specifically for that.

And don’t listen to Krupo, he knows PLENTY about the CPA exam since I certainly talked his ear off about it when I saw him last month ;) pfft!

I agree with Cooking Accountant in that the support is the most important factor usually. It can keep you motivated and doesn’t require as much effort as finding and keeping a study buddy. But try CPAnet first :)
